Take Action: Urge Federal Lawmakers to Support PBM Reform

Our wonderful partner, CSRO, is leading an important effort for advocates to weigh-in on nationwide PBM reforms. The bipartisan Protecting Patients Against PBM Abuses Act (H.R.2880) would provide important reforms to the practices of the pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) industry, including the concept of “delinking” drug prices from PBM income.

Currently, PBMs negotiate percentage-based discounts, rebates, and other price concessions off the list prices of a drug in exchange for providing favorable formulary placement for that drug. This has created perhaps one of the most misaligned incentives in our entire drug pricing system: the higher a drug’s list price, the higher the income potential for the PBM. H.R.2880 would, among other reforms, eliminate this perverse incentive in Medicare: if enacted, PBMs would have to accept flat fee compensation for their services.

As Committees of jurisdiction finalize their “shortlists” of bills to advance before the end of the year, we want to ensure that meaningful PBM reforms such as H.R.2880 are included. Your support is needed to help ensure this bill has a high co-sponsorship number by Members of both parties!

Thank you for getting involved!
