Illuminate the Path to Change
In the heart of the Pacific Northwest, where the rain meets resilience, I walked alongside patients and clinicians for 17 years as a practice administrator. Every day, I witnessed their unwavering determination to access the prescription medications that held the power to transform lives. Yet, the road to these life-changing treatments was riddled with obstacles, and their struggle became my own.
It was here that I encountered the enigmatic figures known as Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs), the puppet masters of the prescription drug marketplace. Their influence grew, their grip tightened, and their priorities became clear: profit over people. They dictated which medications patients could access, how much they would have to pay out of pocket, and where their journey towards healing would take them. This power play jeopardized the well-being of the most vulnerable among us, eroding the sacred bond between doctors and patients.
With each passing day, my determination grew stronger. I refused to let this injustice prevail. Inspired by the stories of courage and resilience that unfolded
